An unfortunate but common side effect of playing sport, injuries can be of particular annoyance as they stop sportspeople from partaking in the activity that they enjoy. Common sports injuries suffered by athletes include ankle sprains, stress factors and shin splints.
Advanced imaging techniques, such as MRI, can be used to diagnose the extent of the damage of the sports injuries, influencing the treatments employed, helping the patient to return to competition as quickly as possible.
While treatments will differ according to the specific injury, common remedies include injections; orthotics; specialist boots; or in severe cases, surgery.
Where we are unable to correct the problem, a referral will be made to my Orthopaedic colleagues who specialise in ankle and rearfoot surgery.
